Illegal operation message when using Internet Explorer?

When using e-bay every time I try to bid I get an illegal operation

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If this problem persists, contact the program vendor

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in

module <unknown> at 0000:65203a65.

I have explorer 6 on windows 98

I also have Norton Firewall

This also occurrs in some other sites such as recruitment sites, but does'nt seem to happen in other interactive sites such as e-banking.
