Why my computer keeps shutting off?

my computer keeps shutting off every minute.. i had a friend's whose did this and she fixed it but doesn't remember how, and i can't seem to figure it out... i am thinking it might be some kind of virus, what do you think i can do?

I'm assuming by shutting off you mean going into hibernation (low power state) If that's right then go to the control panel then the power or energystar settings and change the power-down time Hope this helps.
