Where the sound?

I recently installed a cd-rom rw drive (52x240 and since then I have no sound form the computer. In addition I followed troubleshooting process and on the Sound section - the item is greyed iout and reads 'none'; yet there is an indication that all devices are working, what is my next step? I am some what lov on memory.

Either the soundcard or the cable that connects the sound card to the CD-RW is faulty or disconnected But first reinstall the drivers for the sound card Simply right click on My Computer icon, go to properties, click on Hardware tab, go to Device Manager Look for the sound card and reinstall drivers Hope this helps.
