We recently moved & now cannot connect to the internet (56k modem). We have the same ISP (Juno) and the same local telephone company provider (Cox) as we did at our old house. I brought my computer to work and it connects just fine. At home, it tries to dial, but when I listen in on another telephone, I hear a recording that I think you'd normally get when you have the telephone off the hook... "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again." When I plug a telephone into the jack we'd like to use for the computer, I can make telephone calls without a problem. I called Cox to ask them if they had any ideas. They told me that if I have a dial tone on the line, there isn't any reason I shouldn't be able to connect & that it must be a probelm with my modem. Since everything works fine at my office, I know this isn't a modem problem.

Since you are having the dial tone from the phone line, you do have a problem from the phone jack to your computer What you can do, try another telephone cable from your phone jack to your computer The old cable is probably damaged
Good luck!
