I bought a Gateway Computer with a 40GB hard drive. I purchased an additional 40GB drive and had it installed and the computer destinated it as Drive F. I then had Best Buy update my cable to my hard drives and installed a controller card. Once I brought home my computer I was having trouble with the boot up of my system. A warning would say something to the effect that "windows did not start proberly". After about a week of bypassing this messge, I asked the system to restore my settings back to the day that Best Buy worked on my computer. I have now lost my Drive F. The computer does not recogize it. What could I have done to delete the additional hard drive from the system and what can I do to restore the hard drive to my system?

By using the "restore to a previous date" you had gone to a point in time where your new HD was not installed by reinstalling your new HD ( take it out and put it back in) your system should detect it and reinstall all nessary software for it,
