I have a compaq laptop (older) I can't get the hard drive to show any thing when I turn the comp. on. Am I not getting it to fit in it's proper placement, or is there a way for me to get it to work without losing all of my info and programs?

Yeah if you can see some things in your computer just copy it to an cd-burner to copy all you can and the rest i guess the hardrive is losing space and you might need a new harddrive in your laptop.
