I had an old HP 13 inch monitor that was set to 800x600 resolution and bought a new Viewsonic G90fb CRT. When I connected to my computer the new monitor started running at 800x600 and I changed the display resolution to 1280x1024. Some of the programs are OK but my home page and some pages on the internet, including this one don't fill the whole screen and I can't figure out what I'm not doing correctly to get them to increase in size. They only fill up about half the space from left to right. Do I have to reload XP so it can configure to the new resolution and fill up the screen?

You can do either of (2) things:

1) Check the adjustment knobs on the control panel on the outside of the monitor You should be able to widen the image there If that does not work:

2) Add more video RAM; anywhere between 2 - 8 MB of RAM may be needed for higher resolutions.
