What can be the problem with the software?

I have office 2000 that came with the computer. The excel, that I use all the time, won't start. When I choss excel in the programs list it shows the initial program info screen then the whole computer freezes and I get a fateal exception error saying the program will shut down. This just started and I haven't loaded naything new recently. What could be the problem?

I believe that the problem is your have a virus in your computer and you must scan your computer with Norton 2004.
