Where to find suitable dreivers for my serial mouse with XP

I recently tried to setup a Serial mouse to my WinXP machine. I downloaded the Ms drivers doe Serial mice but all failed to be recognised when I went into my Device manager in XP to load from a disk. Any ideas where I'm going wrong or where could I find suitable dreivers for my serial mouse with XP? Thanks
