I have a chip of ram (32)mb and i was trying to find out on the net what type of ram it was, i know its sd, but i wanted to know how fast it is, becuase i want to put it into this pc (that uses 64mb pc133 ram) . Also is there a way on the computer that i can tell what type of ram its using. I cant do that for the 32mb stick though cause the computer it was in doesnt work

First, you must know what the name and type of the motherboard you already have, then you could look in the web for the characteristics of it, when you already know that you will always know what type of ram you are using, let me tell you something about the ram chips.

Some motherboard comes with different types of ram sockets, the Double Data Rate (DDR), Single Data Rate (SDR), and there are four types of ram modules; DIMM with 168-pin, RIMM with 184-pin, and SIMM with 72 and 30-pins, this last two are the oldest ram modules.

Maybe your computer is one that use two types of ram modules, when you use the two of then the system do not start up or in the contrary way start up with the faster ram module
