Is there a free program that will scan my computer and get rid of these old files and folders?

hi, I would like to know how to cleanout all old files and folders from my computer.i went to SEARCH -FILES AND FOLDERS and deleted as much as possible but i'm still finding bits and pieces in my computer.i'm afraid i might delete something i need in other places. is there a free program that will scan my computer and get rid of these old files and folders? thank-you louie
