I have Windows XP on my box right now... I want to downgrade/dual boot to windows 2000 advanced server. I had 2k adv server on a dual boot, but messed it up. When I first installed it I installed it on a sep h/d & it still messed up my xp installation... I had reinstall windows xp & that was such a pain! Ok, what happened when I installed it last time is it said that it was windows 2000(when i booted from my xp installation). I am wondering if I put my xp disk into the drive & did the recovery counsol & fixed my boot... would that do it? And if it didnt, if I repaired the xp installation would that fix it

Have you ever considered just formatting the hard drive and just start from scratch I mean it sounds like a harder solution but it pays off in the long run because you wouldn't have to deal with the thought of fixing and troubleshooting stuff later Just back up all your inportant files to a cd and/or floppy and just format the hard drive Just make sure that the version of xp that you have is the full version of it because if it isn't that means not only will you have to format and reload the windows 2000 you will have to run the win xp upgrade after you have set up your win 2000 All and all it will work but it will take longer.
