I had someone repair my computer, and I want to put in the recovery cd but I cannot open my cd drive or my dvd drive. The person that repaired it took it apart and also cleaned it, fixed it and re installed it all, although my two drives don't work. They seem to be in the right place and everything, but they just don't work. When I open up my computer, they don't show up. Thanks for answering my question.

Check the power connections Reseat the adapter card if one is present and check the cable connection For window check if the driver is loaded correctly Check if another device is using the same port settings or IRQ number Look in device manager.

Is the data cable attached to the CD-ROM and to the controller

Is the stripe on the data cable correctly aligned to pin 1 For IDE drives is the correct master/slave jumper set Also check if the connection is not disabled in CMOS setup
