How do I load cd rom drive on my system?
When booting the computer I get an error message concerning the CD Rom line in the autoexec.bat. The message states there are too many parameters.
the line looks like this:
ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. IT IS MY DAUGHTERS SYSTEM AND I'VE GONE TO AUTOEXEC.BAK AND THE BACK UP IS THE SAME.
This question was answered on March 24, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting. There are a few things we can try to solve this problem first, lets break this statement down the ";" sign is a seperationg factor in batch statements So to begin with, this line is a path statement, because it says path in front A path statement tells your computer when I need to look at a file these are the places to check first One problem with this line is that it starts out as a path statement and ends as loading a device we must seperate these two So, one line should read "path C:\windows;c:\windows\command", and another line should read "LH c:\windows\command\Mscdex.exe /d:\mscd0001/s/l:d/M20"
Another solution to try is to take out the switches at the end: "/s/l:d/M20", take this out and try loading up the autoexec If this does'nt work try loading up the autoexec.bat with each switch added each time
The last solution will be to try (in windows95) to remove the CD-rom device from the sysytem and restarting the computer and seeing if windows will do the install for you To remove the CD-ROm device Left-click on the "My computer" icon on your desktop and then Right-click the icon and click on properties In this new window click on the Device Manager tab and click on the " " sign next to CD-rom and Click on your Cd-rom name and click remove Restart the computer and see if this does the trick
