Why won't my HP printer install to my PC?

I have an older Dewll Dimension 233 Mhz tower computer. It has two USB ports, but I believe they are version 1.0. I tried to install an HP Deskjet 3420 printer and was not successful. I believe it may be because the printer requires USB 2.0. How do I go about upgrading my USB ports to version 2.0?

Thanks.

John

It may not be the version of the port, at least I do not believe so.

For USB printers, HP uses a proprietary (custom) set of files to interface with the USB Because of this, you cannot use the Windows Millennium Edition (Me) USB support to communicate with the printer You must use the HP software

To resolve this issue, install the software that is included with the printer from HP.
