Hi there, hopefully you will be able to help me here, because i'm a bit worried!

I've just built my first PC. I've installed windows xp, and everything was going fine. I had been using the pc for a few hours installing other hardware etc. Problem started when i had just been listening to an audio cd on my cd-rom drive. I pressed eject to take it the cd out, and then all of a sudden, the whole computer switched off. No shut down, just straight cut off. I tried to turn it back on using the power button on the front of the case and nothing, so i unplugged the main power cable from the back of the case and then put it back in. The computer switched on for about 2 seconds, and during this time, all the fans came on aswell as all other parts in the computer and the motherboard was beeping and then it just shut off again. Do you have any idea what the problem is? New Power supply for the case? Everything appears to be connected right, because i was using it for a few hours before it all went pear shaped.

Thanks!

I would open up the tower and make sure all memory is seated properly on the motherboard.

I would also make sure that all connections to the motherboard are inserted properly and are secure ( Everything from power supply cables to the processor itself; make sure the CPU fan is on properly).

Then try to turn your PC back on If problem still persists, call manufacturer.
