When browsing the internet i pickout a few demo programs to try. ( i am not stupid; only from

trusted names. Tucows, Game Spot etc. ) Many programs hang up. Task manager a few times

will not stop the program ( read here waiting hours ) Even the great alt control delete does not take preferred #1 position and shut down. So it's now the cut the power. Pull the plug.

In the good old days you better have a lot of money to buy a new hard drive as the head goughs the disk, Now there are sensors that OOps no electric and automatically parks the heads with the last ounce of voltage. HERE is now where the problem begins. In parking the

heads many sectors become corrupted. Too many and chkdsk/f is automatically initated by some wierd program in the BIOS? But then every time you restart the computer it runs chkdsk. most of the time it's ok to run but what happens if chkdsk hangs? well that is what is happening here. about 300 sectors in part one are fixed but hangs in part 2 as it reads its thousandth sector. It would be nice to do delete C:*.* in dos but this is ntfs. suggestions would be welcome. UM last resort pull everything out and reinstall.

Straight out .

STOP!!!

Trusted names? lol No such thing demos and trials all dump extra "stuff" onto your harddrive that you don't need and shouldn't be there.

You may want to download "Spybot Search and Destroy" from the net I don't know if I'm allowed to give you a d-load area so for now you will need to simply put in a search for it It will help to get out all the 'junk' that these progs and websites dunp into our computers If you do download this prog you will see it ask you on many, many and almost all sites if you want to prevent sites from dumping on you and programs from changing things on you.

Good luck.
