I am installing a new modem type Creative DSL router 8133U-C1. Intallation was OK until I got to "configuring your DSL Router" stage. I was asked to to start my web browser and type -

http:// 192.168. 1.1 , then when the "connect" dialog box appears enter "admin" in the User Name box. The web page appears but it is empty!!! Ive tried this many time with same result, except once when I got a 404 Error message saying the page was denied access to me.

This is second Creative DSL Router I've had, the first one being faulty, but at least I managed to access the web page and enter my login settings.

Where am I going wrong??

Some help would be appeciated,

Graham Evans

Try unplugging all cables, then reconnect the power supply and two lights should come on (power and the type of connection you are using) Reattach the modem cable then open up the modem setup page (192.168.1.1) Here on the admin page under the Login Status and Login Settings page hit the disconnect and the reconnect buttons.

Most DSL Routers will require that you specify EITHER static IP info OR ISP assigned (same as DHCP) HOWEVER - this config utility just says OPTIONAL next to the static wan config section

Below that there is DHCP CLIENT option - I would have thought that this should be enabled, so that you get a DHCP assigned IP Address from the ISP However the HOST NAME option seems strange to me You don't need to specify a host with DHCP normally (it doesn't say whether this is for your host name or the ISP host name).

So, I tried ticking the ENABLE DHCP CLIENT box but after clicking SAVE SETTINGS this refreshes but the the tick is no longer there in the WAN settings
