My defragmentation does not work. It used to defrag once a week during the night. I get a message that it could not start.

When I started it myself, it would go to 71 per cent, then stop and restart, over and over. I ran the scan disk and when it was through it told me that the drive had no errors. So I started the defragmentation again and still the same- 71 per cent done and it stops.

Any suggestions. I thank you, [email protected]

ScanDisk can the drive for errors and repairs them However, there is one thing ScanDisk cannot do and that is detect a virus.

Your hardrive may have a virus Run a current version of an antivirus program to see if a virus exists If an virus does exist then the program should be able to remove/delete it.

If there is no virus and you still cannot perform defrag, you may need to replace the hard drive.
