I am trying to install windows 98, using start up floppy, to a formatted hard drive, but although it starts the set-up procedure, when asked to press "enter" to continue, it goes back to the dos prompt.

I have inserted the floppy in drive A, and the Windows 98 disc in the CD rom drive.

I Typed F: and entered. Then typed F:Setup.

It starts the installation procedure, then says "Press enter to continue".

When I do this, it returns to the DOS prompt.

I have used this procedure before on another computer, and everything worked fine.

The only difference on this computer is the fact that the hard drive is partitioned.

Once you have used the Windows98 start up disk to boot the PC you should get a list of (3)

choices:

1 Start Computer With CD-ROM Support.

2 Start Computer Without CD-ROM Support.

3 View the Help File.

Since you have the Windows98 CD, choose choice #1.

This should allow the PC to immediately begin to use the CD ROM to begin installation of Windows98.
