How do I correct my disk hardware configuration problem?

when i start up the computer it gives me this message.

Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.

Could not read from the selected boot dick. Check boot path and disk hardware.

I just fixed his computer and it ran fine then i got a call about it doing this. Can u please help me with this i am stumped. I went to the dos prompt and looked at the directory of drive c: and all it showed was winmx.

It sound like you need to open the tower and check to make sure that the data cables connecting the hard drive and floppy disk to the motherboard are properly connected to the motherboard and also to the hardware devices themsleves.

The cables must be inserted properly or the device they are attached to will not be read by the system.

Once you do that hopefully you will be able to start your PC.

Then what you want to do also is to go to CMOS settings, and make sure that you choisen the correct BOOT SEQUENCE for your PC.
