How can I get rid of the start up message?

My xp system would not load due to a system 32 error. I re installed the xp system and things are working fair, but when startilng up the screen comes up with two xp systems to choose from. It defauts to the one that is working but the other one will not load. How can I get rid of the start up message?

This question was answered on April 6, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.


Under the Computer Management Tools, there is a utility called Disk Management.

Choose this utility and in it you should be able to see the partitions on your hard drive.

Since you say you have (2) XP systems to choose from during start up, then you may more than likely have (2) partitions, one active and one logical.

Verify which one is active; I believe it will indicate the drive your are currently loaded into.

Then you should be able to delete the partition that holds the XP system that will not load.

If you are able to delete that, this should get rid of the start message you were originally getting.
