My scroll bar seems to have a mind of it's own. It scrolls up and down, sometimes really fast. I've noticed that putting the cursor on the top of the screen helps stop it. At first it did it occasionally, and I would shut down the computer. It would usually work fine when I turned it back on. Now, It is pretty constant (every time I turn on the comp) and even interferes with my Civ 3 playing. Iv'e noticed that it is the worst when I am trying to click on a link on the internet, as the cursor goes towards it, the screen will scroll in that direction. It has been going on for months, so the hacker answer I read doesn't seem to apply. Help!

It sounds as if your mouse is having a physical breakdown If the middle-button on your mouse is shorting out, it could cause the anomalies you described Consider replacing your old pointing device; and if that doesn't work, well.. it's something else.

Good Luck!
