How can I get my cd to operate correctly?

WILL NOT READ OR PLAY A CD ARE PROGRAM WHEN PLACE IN CD DRIVE EVERY THING ELSE WORKS

Try going into the device manager to insure it has been recognized Reload the device's driver if necessary,and check it's systems resources If the problem still persists, check the ribbon cable connection and jumper setting If possible, try the drive in another computer to pinpoint or rule it out as the cause of the problem.
