What is task manager?

Scandisk keeps starting and stopping. I occasionally hear a program (unknown what) starting up and then shutting down, but nothing shows on the monitor.

When running Scandisk, I always shut down screen savers and virus programs etc. before starting the run, so it can't be them.....

When running defrag.....same thing, and I see a line come up that says "contents of hard drive changed, restarting program"

....HELP !

The next time you get that message hit control alt delete, choose your task manager, inside your task manager choose programs You will be able to view all the programs that is running on your computer.
