when i try to defrag the following message shows. the drive or network connection that the shortcut"disk defragmenter.ink"refers to is unavailable.make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available.try again problem with shortcut.
This question was answered on April 13, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.
It soud like the shortcut you are using from your desktop is for a third party software for defragmenting You will need to insert the CD that came with that software in order to use it.
Incidentally, Windows has it own Disk Defragment program.
Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Defragment The Disk Defragment window will appear and you click on the Defragment button, which will more than likely be located at the bottom of the window display.
Defragmentation will then begin.
