How do I get my mouse to work properly?

I have Windows ME computer, recently it has been working very slowly. My mouse works sometimes and all of a sudden it stops working. I tried reformat my computer with the recovery cd I got when I first purchased my computer. I was not able to reformat it. Please let me know what are the proper steps to reformat the “Windows ME computer.

First try to shut down and restart your computer and see what happens after that Also, double check to make sure the mouse is plugged into the tower correctly If the problem persists, you may need to reinstall the drivers to the mouse.

I believe that Windows ME is PnP (Plug and Play) compliant, and will do it automatically for you
