I get the BSOD when I go to print the test page on my HP 5500. I used the newest Ver 7.1 HP driver. The thing I did before that was install Twain scanner driver. I installed a 3Com Winnmodem and a HP CD burner model 8200. Everything on the computer works fine. I have no conflicts & no yellow spashes in the device driver area. It is an ABIT LX6 mo. board with the newest BIOS & then a clean install of W98SE. I have a 16m AGP card.

Any help would be appreciated. Oh how I hate that BSOD!

Try rebooting and then attempt to print a test page

verify the printer is online (see printer documentation for information on how to determine that status from the control panel of the printer.)

verify that the printer is not set in emulation mode incompatible with the printer driver.

check the printer cable is firmly connected at both ends.

verify that the proper printer cable is used most newer printer require an IEEE-1284 complaint bi-directional parallel cable.

verify that the data to the installed is being sent to the correct parallel port
