Each time i open up a program, any program or even the internet, i get a pop up from Windows Installer, saying it is initiallizing installation. It stops after about 10 seconds and goes away, but it is really annoying and is slowing up my system heavily. I think the problem lies with the Microsoft Money 2002 program. The first two times i tried to uninstall this program it wouldn't let me, saying something like "a previous version is attempting to install." Now i go to try to uninstall the program and it doesn't even give me the "Change/Remove" option in the Add/Remove programs section. This program came preloaded on the computer when i bought it, so i don't have a disk to reinstall the program. is there any other way of fixing or just removing Microsoft Money completely from the computer?

Thanks,

Drew

Yes, edit the Registry Key.

THIS IS A VERY DELICATE AREA ONE MISTAKE AND YOU CAN COMPLETELY RUIN YOUR PC.

Before you even begin to edit or modify the Registry Key, you must back it up.

Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and click Backup The Backup dialog box opens

Click the Backup tab Check the System State box in the list of items you can back up The System State includes the boot files and the registry It also includesthe COM (Component Object Model) Registration Database, which contains information about applications and includes files in the Windows folders.

Select the destination for the backup You can back up to any media, including a folder on the hard drive, etc Click Start Backup

When you back up the system state, the registry is also backed up to the folder:

%SystemRoot%\repair\RegBack If you later have a currupted registry, you can copy files from this folder to the registry folder: %SystemRoot%\System32\Config.

Now, to edit the registry key, click Start and then click RUN.

In the RUN command box, type: %SystemRoot%\System32\regedt32.exe, then click OK.

The Registry Editor dialog box will open.

On the left side of the dialog box, click on the" " next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand it.

The click on the " " next to SOFTWARE to expand that Search the software tree for the program Microsoft Money 2002, and delete it and it only from the tree.

PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL.

This shoiuld completely delte the program from your PC and eliminate the initializing installation pop up.
