Hello, Im having a problem with my system locking up every time I turn it on. Ive had the system for abt 2yrs now, and the problem started a couple of months back, it started out mild but got worse, i would just restart and it would work good for awhile, but now it locks everytime, I tried everyting, checked the HDD, ran a repair program ( which locked up when I tried to run that), changed memory, changed the battery etc. so I wiped the system clean to do a reinstall for the umpteenth time and now it locks up whn Im just trying to format the HDD, and partion it??? not sure what's wrong I'm at a loss. any suggestions? thanks

If you lock up while formatting the drive and creating a partition, your hard drive is no good.

You either have too many bad sectors or you have a badly corrupted MBR(Master Boot Record) which is the very 1st sector on the hard drive and it holds the boot process as well as the operating system.

You will have to replace the hard drive with a new one.
