Why doesn't my "Easy CD & DVD Creator 6" program work

I tried to install a BTC cd-rw drive. After I put in the application software disc I get an error message "this version of Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 is not supported on Microsoft Windows 98 Gold Operating System", then the install wizard will confirm that the application disc could not be installed.

I have never heard of the Windows Gold OS?

Can I download from the internet a newer version of windows 98 that will work? I've looked for windows updates at Microsoft website but no updates for my windows are allowed to be downloaded? Any suggestions?
