I installed the game The Alamo. When done it says game installed sucessfully, Hit play and a message says "fatal error unable to setup D3D?

This question was answered on April 21, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.


To whom it may concern:

First of all do you have Direct X installed on your computer? The newest version is 9.0b, you can download this from www.microsoft.com If you have Direct X already installed make sure your Video Card supports Direct X To find out if your video card supports Direct X go to your video cards vendor website.

If everything above is fine, go to start, run and type dxdiag Once it is done loading up click the display tab and test direct draw and direct 3d, if the tests run fine, make sure they are both enabled.
