A few weeks ago I started getting "page not displayed" for everything while on line. Earthlink talked me into changing the dial-up protocol so that at least I can browse now. But there are extra clicks involved in having to open internet explorer after the dial-up connection is made. The earthlink tech told me that my internet explorer has some corrupt files and needs to be re-installed. I have internet explorer 6.0. What is the proper procedure for re-installing the same version of a browser currently being used? Do I need to save my bookmarks to a floppy first? Thank you.

Sometimes you may want to reinstall IE 6.0 from your XP CD
To do so follow these steps:
Insert the Windows XP CD in your CD drive.
Open Start / Run and type:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf
(in one long line Just copy/paste the above entry)
Press ENTER
You can also use the I386 folder from the CD, just copy it to your HD, but make sure you change the installation path to the new location.
