I have just received a computer from a family friend. i would really like to know how to delete the old owners name and put my name in the computer. I did change the Adm user login name at the very biginning of the start up, but there seems to be still the old named user login name. So, how do I make the computer know that there is a new owner and to delete the old one.

One possible change you should definately consider is restoring your computer Since you received the computer from a family friend, you really don't want to keep all the unnecessary files and folders that were left over from the previous owner If you do in fact go through with the restoration then your problem will have been solved because once you restore it the computer returns to its' original state But if you wish not to restore it you can go into your computer's control panel by clicking on Start->Settings->Control Panel Then clicking on Users & Passwords Once you're there, you will have access to all the accounts and be able to edit and delete all the accounts that are on the computer.
