I can't get the computer to boot up to windows anymore, it stays at the boot up screen ( I guess thats what it is, where all the specs are) and then it goes to 'checking DMI pool data' and stops. The cursor is blinking underneath. There are no cds or floppies in the drive. I'm stuck.

What you should definately consider to fix this problem is a restoration of your computer What this will do is bring your computer back to the way it was when your first purchased it If you don't have any important documents on your computer then I highly suggest that you just restore your pc This will surely eliminate all your problems Your restore cds came along with your computer when you first purchased it so track them down and pop in the first cd and reboot the computer What you can do is start the computer->open your cd-rom drive->place the cd in its tray->close it->and then shut down the computer by pressing the power on button The next time you start your computer the restore cd should start running Follow the instructions on the monitor to complete the restoration and all is well Another option you have is running the operating system cd If the restore cd(s) don't work Follow the guidelines above only with the operating system cd
