Old programs still exist on add/remove even though they have been removed

In my add/remove program,some of the old programs that have been removed are still on the add/remove list.when I try to remove them I will get an error message on them.Is there a way to get them off the list ?

I have had the same problem, and I found that if you reinstall the program with the original disk, then remove it - is is gone from the list...I think it has something to do with the uninstallation files If you downloaded the program from the web, download it again; then uninstall it 9 times out of 10 it will work!
