I have some persistent internet shortcuts appearing on my desktop. If I delete them they just come back a few days later. They are linked to spotresults.com. How do I get rid of them?

Shortcuts that appear on the desktop without the user doing anything is the result of Adware/Spyware The program downloads adevrtisements for a certain product, website etc Even if you delete these shortcuts the Adware/Spyware will only download them again, maybe more To get rid of the source of the problem you should download Adware/Spyware removal software It will find the files doing this and will delete them www.ad-aware.com has free software for you to download to take care of the problem.
