Computer started getting multiple error messages when you started up the computer. My daughter would exit out of them. Then the computer quit working. Now I have time I'm trying to fix her computer, but when I turn the computer on it beeps continuously and says to install the startup disc in the "A" drive. When I try this it says the computer doesn't detect a "C" drive. All the software that came with the computer is on CD's and I can't get the "D" drive door to open!

Is this a virus that has taken over her computer or a hard drive gone bad?

Thanks so much

Long continuous beeps generally mean a memory issue, try a single stick of 128 meg memory double sided if possible If you use high density memory then 512MB ram is the maximum
