Ok, well, my roomie informed me that in the other room, my computer made a audible "pop" noise and shut off. When I switched on the power again, with just the motherboard attached, no power was delivered. Pretty much, I am asking here to make sure what I figured the problem to be, is correct. The room also smelt like something had burnt. Nothing on the montherboard or cpu, etc showed NO signs of burning/scarring. After giving it a day to cool off, we opened up the power supply and also sw no burning marks, or anything irregular. This lead me to this site for a second oppinion. Is it a faulty power supply? Thanks!

Have you tried pluging it in another room? If it powers up then you know it's the outlet in the room Also try connecting the power supply to another motherboard You should then see a green or red light If you see either of these lights then your power supply is good You should also do what is called a smell test Smell your power supply, if it smells "toasty" meaning burnt Then you should change your power supply But be very careful when inspecting inside the computer I would suggest you unplug it first before opening it up!
