Why doesn't the folder's view stay the way I pick

When using windows explorer and selecting view menu and details, it happens, but when leaving the folder, closing windows explorer and returning after reopening windows explorer it reverts to icon view. How can I get it to remain with the details view at all times? I am using the windows classic style.

First click on the START menu then select SETTINGS Then scroll to CONTROL PANEL In the control panel folder double-click the FOLDER OPTIONS icon Then select the VIEW tab, then scroll down to where is says 'REMEMBER EACH FOLDER'S VIEW SETTINGS' and make sure there is a check in the box next to it
