Help! I tried to start up a microsoft game and it said I needed Direct X 9.

I went to Microsoft and downloaded it, at the end I got an error message on the "blue screen

of death" as I like to call it.

I re-boot the computer and it gets hung up on the "Microsoft ME" boot page. I tried to start in

safe mode, but safe mode doesn't start (it starts in normal mode again and hangs on boot page.) I don't know what to do because I even did a scanreg /restore on command prompt and that didn't work. In a similar problem in the past, I did a system restore in safe mode and problem went away. This time I can't get in safe mode.

Any help you can provide would greatly be appreciated.

By informing me that your computer gets hung up on the Microsoft ME boot page, that gives me enough reason to believe that your operating system is no longer working You will need to re-install your operating system, so wipe clean those dusty re-installation cd(s) that came along with your computer when you first purchased it and pop them into your cd-rom Start your computer and quickly hit the eject button and place the cd in Don't worry if the computer reboots or shuts down Restart your computer by pressing the power-on button on your tower Your computer will reboot and autorun the cd for the installation to take place Simply follow the instructions on the monitor to complete the re-installation Good Luck!!
