After I installed Windows 98 & Windows 98 Second Edition system sounds do not work.

I tried to reinstall the sound drivers and still no sound.

No sound when playing CD either.

How can I fix this?

When I access the media player I get this message:

"driver is enabled but inactive due to unknown problem"

Please help

thanks

Dotty:

Have you updates windows through Windows Updater? If not click start, run, then Windows Update When the window pops up (internet explorer) it will scan to see what updates are available for your system Download all of the updates

After you finish downloading and installing all of the updates download the sound drivers again from the site manufacturer of your sound card and reinstall the drivers Make sure that the sound card drivers are Windows 98 compatible.
