Since I change hardware often, when is the "best" time to activate my new installation of XP Home to avoid having to get a new activation code in the future: Before installing hardware (DVD writers, sound card, Zip drives, external drives, etc) or AFTER installing all that junk?

I understand that the activation code depends on what is in your system, so is it better to start with a skimpy system and add on or have a loaded system then switch out the components?

Also, do USB and firewire peripherals count in the XP activation code scheme?

thanks!

Craig

The best time to activate win xp is after you have installed any hardware you need to, this way you won't have to get a new activation code and spent time on it Also, about your second question yes, usb and firewire count, every device count since win xp take a whole picture of your system.
