I've received numerous emails "211+ million US citizens in this software" New software lets you find out almost anything about anyone. Always different addresses with a link to download the software with a note it may take awhile so give it time. This smells like some sort of virus, worm, spyware, etc. Have you looked into this and is it bogus? If it stinks, who gets notified?

Without seeing the company involved in the advertisement you receieved, it's hard to tell if it's spyware or not But trust your gut, if it feels like a bad idea, it probably is There are so many websites out there that will allow you to search for information without having to download a thing so I'd be leery of this offer If you feel the program is fishy, you should let your ISP know about the email so they can keep an eye on it
