I am trying to download the newest version of shockwave player 10. I tried to download it from the macromedia site. When I try to intall it on my computer it gets stuck at 1%. I then tried to uninstall the old version (I thought that might be the problem.) Again I went to the macromedia site. When I try to run the uninstaller on my computer, I get an error that states I have one or more open browsers. I cannot find an open browser - I exit everything and it still states I have one or more open browsers. I have AOL and internet explorer. I have downloaded the "pop up stopper" free edition but I turned it off before downloading. I also have ad aware and spybot.

You should access your taskbar to see if you have any running programs before you start your unistallation.

you could try to delete the file from the registry, but this avenue is for advanced users.

the most drastic step is to do a clean installation of the Operating System.

hope this helps,

good luck
