Why does my computer freeze and shuts off when I play PC Games?

hi,

whenever i play games(any games) like counterstrike or battlefield 1942, after a few minutes the computer starts lagging and then it just shutsdown on its own. And when i restart it, it usually loads until the destop then it turns itself off again, and I'll have to waite about 5-15 minutes before the computer can start up properly again. THis problem usually happens when I use "big" applications, like battlefield 1942. I reformatted my computer but this problem still persist, could there be something wrong with my hardisk?

You say it only happens when you're playing this game, but is that usually the only time you're online? If so, it's almost a certainty that you have the Blaster or one of its variants You need to get a firewall and download the patch from Microsoft.

You are being hacked by losers May I say, you need a new hard drive!

Also try changing your sound settings, at first turn sound off and try that, then slowly turn the options back on until you restart in game
