I just installed Riven on my computer. Whenever I insert the 1st cd, it comes up with a startup window on which there are two options: Run or Close. If I choose run, the disc drive makes a humming sound for a few seconds and then stops. No screens come up, no error messages, no nothing. Do you know why it can't seem to run, and if you do, how I could fix it?

The copy of Riven that you received can sometimes have issues with XP This can be solved 100% of the time by changing the Riven executable to run in compatibility mode To set compatibility mode do the following:

1 Navigate to the main game directory (where the game was installed).

2 Find the main game executable file (ending in .exe if you have extentions turned on) and right click on it.

3 Choose "Properties" and then click on "Compatibility" Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box,

then select Windows 98/ME and click Apply.

4 Run Riven

Also make sure you install game patches from the game maker.
