I bought a used Compact Armada Laptop M700. I installed my own Jukebox Plus and Musicmatch so I could take it to my Summer cabin and continue burning MP3s to CDs like on my regular Desktop.

However this Laptop refuses to burn, saying it can not find a burn driver. The system info states that it has a Compaq CD - 224E 9.0B recording drive in it.

I also can not burn off my Nero Burner Software either. Is there any burner that I can install in this Laptop to allow me to do Burning? I wrote Compaq and they won't talk to me because the warranty ran out . Any ideas , or is this too old a Laptop. Thanks Jerry Surra

I did a checked with compaq and they state the drive you have is only a CD-ROM drive and not a burner so you cannot burn cd on it.

CD-224E 24xSPEED-Read SLIMLINE CD-ROM

COMPAQ

P/N:1977047A-44

MODEL:CD-224E A44

MANUFACTURED AUGUST 1999

IDE/ATAPI Interface

ULTRA DMA MODE 2 Supported

I hope that helps..
