Doing a new install on this used computer with windows 98. The max color I get is 16. The games my daugther want to run need 256 colors. What can I do to get the color? I have no modem card in the system. No NIC.

Is there a way to dual boot with windows xp too? Would that help get the color?

Hi, this could be due to the fact that you are viewing your desktop as a web page or your deskop wallpaper is strecthed to fix this do the following :Click Start, point to Settings, and then double-click Display

Click the Web tab

Click the "View my Active Desktop as a web page" check box to clear it, and then click Apply

Click Yes when you receive the following prompt:

The wallpaper you selected can be shown on the desktop only if Active Desktop is enabled Do you want to enable it?

Click OK

Now to dual boot with windows XP you have to make sure that you have the following requirements: PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;1 Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

• 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.1

• Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

• CD-ROM or DVD drive

• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device
