I can be running a program and the system will spontaneously turn off. I checked out the power supply and the mother board cooling fan and both are fine. The last thing I did before this starting occurring was download software from adware.com and blow out the dust from the power pack and the inside of the cpu.

This indicates that you have a problem with the power supply or house current to the PC If what I'm about to tell you to try doesn't work you have to get a new power supply.

1 Check for too many devices using the same house circuit Remove a printer, Fax or other heavy equipment from the same circuit

2 Try exchanging the power supply for one that you know if good.

3 Try getting a serge protector if you don't have one.

4 When you power up the PC listen for the Fan if you don't hear that's where the problem is You must exchange it because, if you try to work the PC without the fan it will cause it to overheat and damage a chip.

Like I said before if none of the above seem to work, that means you need a new power supply

Good luck!
